National AAN Conference

"Nationally Significant, Locally Relevant."

On 15th November 2018, 9 Apprenticeship Ambassador Networks (AAN) and Young Apprenticeship Ambassador Networks (YAAN) came together to celebrate our success and progress over the last 12 months, following on from our previous national conference in 2017.

With discussions and sessions focused around mental health awareness in apprenticeships, diversity, T Levels, SMEs, and lots more, we had an extremely insightful and productive day at the iconic NEC, Birmingham.

Anne Milton, the Minister of State for Skills and Apprenticeships also gave thanks to hundreds of committed employers, apprentices and apprenticeship partners for their dedication, passion and constant work they do to champion apprenticeships across the country.

With the launch of the, Young Apprenticeship Ambassador Network (YAAN) at last year's conference, our 9 regional YAAN chairs also discussed their journey one year on, particularly celebrating the growth of the network with now 564 ambassadors nationally!

Following on from this, apprenticeship ambassadors, Steve Fogg and Ben Higham, from BAE Systems also shared their engaging and inspirational mental health awareness programme. This sparked an extremely thought provoking questions and answers session, regarding apprentices and the pressure they experience transitioning from education into the workplace, having to manage their personal life, complete assignments and also maintain a high performing level at work. Overall, we had an incredible day at the conference and look forward to attending again next year for more national apprenticeship updates and celebrations!
