Apprentice Case Study: Zach Yeandle

Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship?

I decided to do an apprenticeship because I feel it provides a much more valuable experience to university and allows work experience as well as a qualification. Apprenticeships allow for faster career progression and will mean that I can keep learning whilst earning money and understanding a business.

Please describe your experience..

So far I am thoroughly enjoying my apprenticeship, I am learning loads about the business both through work and through my apprenticeship. I would not change anything about my experience.

How has your apprenticeship helped you to progress in your career?

At the moment, it has not allowed any progression, however I am hoping at the end of my apprenticeship that I will have a significant progression in career and salary.

What do you feel are the advantages of doing an apprenticeship over other training or education?

Doing an apprenticeship allows people to learn through real experience. It shows that you have the ability to not just study but also to put it into practice in a real situation. The levels vary for any type of person which means there is the opportunity for a variety of qualifications and skills to be gained for everyone. You are also earning while you learn which you don’t get with other forms of education.
