Apprentice Case Study: Andre Noel-Pottinger

Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship?

It was a great opportunity for me to gain essential skills, which I could then re-invest back into my team, whilst further increasing my career opportunities with Brakes. I wanted to become a more effective people manager and I felt that taking this apprenticeship was a step in the right direction to achieve my goal.

Please describe your experience..

During my 12 months as an apprentice, I can honesty say it has been brilliant! Continuously developing my skill set through the tutor sessions and the projects, I have been able to incorporate all that i have learnt within my existing job role.

How has your apprenticeship helped you to progress in your career?

The confidence I have gained through this course now allows me to articulate my ideas in a more positive and convincing way, and it has given me the belief that I can progress through the managerial ranks at Brakes.

What do you feel are the advantages of doing an apprenticeship over other training or education?

The relationship you build between yourself and your employer is one of the key advantages of doing an apprenticeship. The support Brakes has shown in providing me with every resource possible to ensure I achieve has been wonderful. Both parties are beneficiaries of a successful apprentice scheme!
